The Amir of the State of Qatar, H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued the Amiri decree No.95 of 2023 appointing H.E. Asma Naji Al Amri as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Croatia.
On June 08, 2024, she assumed her role as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ( non-resident) of the State of Qatar to the Holy See- Vatican City.
Her Excellency assumed her post officially on December 19, 2023. She was promoted to an Ambassador as she concluded her post at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington D.C., where she served as a Chief Operations Officer from January 2021 to October 2023.
Ambassador Al-Amri is a seasoned career diplomat with over 25 years of experience spanning various roles at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). She joined MOFA in March 1998 and was assigned to the Department of Research and Information Analysis until August 2002.
For over a decade, from 2002 to 2012, Her Excellency served at the MOFA Department of European and American Affairs. As a lead political researcher, she was responsible for preparing bilateral portfolios and reports. She was promoted to a Counselor in 2014.
Her Excellency was appointed as Assistant Director of the American Affairs Department from in 2014. She was promoted to a Minister Plenipotentiary in 2018 and continued in her role at the Department until December 2020 to start her assignment to the Qatari Mission in the United States.
Throughout her diplomatic career, she attended several regional and international events. Most notably, she attended the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in 2012. For her various roles at MOFA, she participated in several professional development courses in diplomacy and other fields.
